Brazilian 1st ACs running ARRI WCU-4, Preston FI+Z, and Teradek follow-focus on São Paulo and Rio features

Here is how this works in practice. Brazilian 1st ACs and focus pullers handle the camera body, lens prep and marking, ground-glass and viewfinder calibration, focus-pull and zoom execution, magazine reloads, filter swaps, and the daily camera report passed to the DIT and the production office. Standard packages run ARRI WCU-4 hand units paired with cforce mini and mini RF motors, Preston FI+Z III with Bartech and Heden motors for legacy work, Teradek RT MK3 wireless follow-focus with Bolt 6 1000/4K and Bolt 6 LT video link. Plus the lens-data bench (Cooke /i Technology, Zeiss eXtended Data, ARRI LDS, RED Connect, and Cmotion CPro RF).

Here is what that looks like on the ground. On the ground, Bodies on the working tab have ARRI Alexa 35, Alexa Mini LF, Alexa 65, Sony Venice 2, RED V-Raptor XL and Komodo X, and Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K. Optics sourced through Cinevideo Locações, Filmplanet, and Movie Tech cover Cooke S4/i and S7/i, ARRI Signature Primes and Master Primes, Zeiss Supreme Primes, Angénieux Optimo Anamorphic 2x and 1.3x, and Sigma Cine FF. Cross-border 12-hour LA-GRU access supplements rare-spec optics.

Here is the short of it. 1st ACs are SindCine and SATED-RJ/SATED-SP-registered, with reciprocal IATSE Local 600 First Assistant Cameraperson plan for visiting US co-productions. CLT contracts, FGTS 8% termination fund, INSS workers comp, 13º salário, and 30-day paid vacation accruals are managed in-house. Tropical-shoot lens-and-body protocols (80-95% humidity Rio/Salvador/Recife/Amazon. This covers desiccant rotation, pre-warmed cases, fungal-prevention storage), Pantanal (UNESCO 2000) seasonal access flips (flooded November-April, dry July-September), Central Amazon UNESCO 2000 10m+ river-rise scheduling, and required yellow fever vaccination for Amazon and Pantanal are all routine planning items.

Here is how the picture comes together. On the ground, Recent feature work has shipped on Walter Salles's I'm Still Here (Best Foreign Language Oscar nominee 2025), Kleber Mendonça Filho's Aquarius and Bacurau, Karim Aïnouz's Eurídice Gusmão, José Padilha's Elite Squad franchise, and Netflix's Narcos and The Two Popes.
