SCENE 01 / HMI TUNGSTEN LIGHTS
HMI & Tungsten Lights
Professional film lighting for your Brazilian production.
Here is how this works in practice. HMI and tungsten lights are industry-standard fixtures that deliver powerful, steady lighting for film and television production. HMIs produce daylight-balanced output with high efficiency, while tungsten fixtures give warm, dimmable light that stays a staple for controlled interior and studio work.
Here is the short of it. We source HMI and tungsten lighting fixtures in the wattages and configurations your gaffer specifies, drawing from local rental inventories. Our team sets up power distribution planning and makes sure spare lamps and accessories are ready so your lighting setups proceed without interruption.

ARRI Max 18K, K5600 Jokers, Mole-Richardson tungsten — sized for Brazil's 127V/220V dual grid
Here is how this works in practice. HMI inventory at Cinerent Brasil and Cor & Som carries ARRI Max 18K and 12K daylight fixtures, ARRI M-Series (M40, M18, M8) flickerless ballast pairs, ARRI L-Series LED fresnels for hybrid sets, and the full K5600 Joker line. Joker 800, 1200, 1600, and the popular Joker Bug 400 / 800 for run-and-gun and natural-light fill. Tungsten side keeps ARRI True Blue 5K, 2K, 1K, and 650W fresnels alongside Mole-Richardson Senior, Junior, and Tweenie heads. Plus Dedolight DLH4 + DLH1000 for tight tabletop and product work.
Here is the breakdown. On the ground, Globo Estúdios PROJAC, Casablanca Studios São Paulo, and O2 Filmes carry permanent tungsten and HMI rigs from their steady telenovela and feature pipelines. ARRI Brasil and the Mole-Richardson lineage have decades of presence in the country. Cross-border top-up from Sigma Cine LA on the 12-hour direct GRU flight handles oversize loadouts when a feature exceeds resident stock.
Here is the short of it. Brazil's dual-voltage grid is the operational quirk each electric package has to plan around. São Paulo runs 127V/60Hz, the Northeast (Recife, Salvador) and Manaus run 220V/60Hz, Brasília and the South sit on 220V/60Hz, and the mixed grid drives each HMI ballast and tungsten dimmer choice — we provision step-up/down transformers, flicker-free 60Hz ballasts, and dedicated 13.8 kV industrial tie-ins at major studios when load demands. Tie-ins route through Light SA in Rio, Eletropaulo / Enel in São Paulo, and Equatorial Energia in the Northeast under ANEEL rules.
Here is what that looks like on the ground. On the ground, Stemac, Cummins Brasil, and Caterpillar Brasil give gen-set backup for remote work. The lighting custom itself is deep: Sambódromo Niemeyer 1984 Carnival multi-block panel rigs, Cristo Redentor heritage IPHAN-permitted heroic-light setups on Corcovado, telenovela day-shoot infrastructure at PROJAC that drilled many generations of Brazilian gaffers, and the today's features (Bacurau, I'm Still Here, Two Popes) that keep that depth today's.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What HMI sizes do you stock?
We carry a full range of HMI fixtures from 575W through 18K, including ARRI M-series and K5600 Alpha. Most shoots use a mix of 1.2K, 2.5K, and 4K units, with larger fixtures for exterior work or large interior spaces.
Do you provide generators?
Yes, we can arrange power packs sized to your lighting package, from small portable units to large tow-behind power packs for substantial HMI loads. We set up power packs placement and fuel for your production.
What tungsten options are available?
We stock ARRI tungsten Fresnels from 150W to 20K, Mole-Richardson units, and specialty fixtures like Dedolights. Tungsten stays popular for interior scenes needing warm, controllable light.
Can you provide gaffers and electricians?
Yes, we work with skilled Brazilian gaffers and electricians who know both the gear and local power systems. Having local lighting crew makes sure efficient setup and safe operation.
What about power distribution?
We supply complete power distribution including distro boxes, cable runs, and dimmer systems. Our team can advise on power needs and set up tie-ins where appropriate.
Do you offer mixed HMI/tungsten packages?
Yes, many shoots use both HMI (daylight-balanced) and tungsten (warm) fixtures. We build mixed packages and have the gels and correction needed to balance between sources.
